Hi, my name is Carrie and I’m a writer who happens to have a disability. I was diagnosed with Usher’s Syndrome Type II (a form of Retinitis Pigmentosa that includes hearing loss with deteriorating eyesight) in early 1992 when I was twenty-one years old. Today I still have good central vision and am still able to work in the banking industry on a full time basis. I write whenever I can. If I don’t, I am a miserable soul to be around
I started to take my writing seriously over five years ago and began submitting them to various ezines. As of today, I have several shorts published on Piker Press, and a children’s poem on Literature4Kids. In time, I hope to see my work published on other sites and magazines. Being a writer is a journey where you need to faithfully write every day in order to become a better writer.
Each year, I participate in National Novel Writing Month, Script Frenzy, National Poetry Writing Month as well as National Essay Writing Month.
I keep a writing blog called A Writer and Her Adolescent Muse I also have another blog where I post about my passion: genre writing.
I’m currently writing a YA horror/fantasy web serial called The Underverse and a serialized horror fiction called Hope Falls.
